Founder
Rajesh Rajilal is a London-based film director and producer, born 16 October 1979. He began his career as a film runner in the UK industry and worked his way up through almost every department — film editing, casting, camera, production management and directing — before founding his own production companies. He holds a degree in Computer Science and a CCNA networking certification, a technical background that now shapes RFPI’s AI-assisted animation and post-production workflows.
Early in his career he was guided by acclaimed director Shekhar Kapur, whom he assisted on Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and worked with the late director Jagmohan Mundhra on Provoked: A True Story. He has also worked alongside talent including Kabir Bedi and composer A. R. Rahman.
Across more than twenty years his credits span British, Hollywood and Indian productions, including Casino Royale, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Provoked, Cheeni Kum, Namastey London, Salaam-E-Ishq, Shoot on Sight, London Dreams, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Jodi Breakers, Housefull 3 and De De Pyaar De 2, with production support on major UK shoots such as Slumdog Millionaire, the Harry Potter films and The Da Vinci Code. His roles have ranged from first assistant director and unit production manager to casting director, editor and producer — see the full list on the Filmography page.
Through Raj Film Productions he built a casting and production-services business operating across the UK, Mauritius, France, Belgium and India, providing talent recruitment, production office, editing and transport services to visiting productions. Today, as founder and director of the RFPI group of companies, he develops his own directorial projects, casts and mentors emerging talent, and is active in training newcomers to media production. He is available to travel for productions worldwide.
